Jessie Elland is an actress and author from the North East of England.

An avid bookworm from the moment she could read, Jessie spent most of her childhood dreaming of writing books and scribbling down half-finished stories.

Her debut novel The Ladie Upstairs is set to be published early 2025.

Born in Darlington, Jessie grew up in Yarm and attended Conyers school before winning a scholarship for the local private sixth form.

After graduating from the University of Manchester with a 1st Class Degree in Drama, she was cast as series regular Chloe Harris on ‘Emmerdale’.

Throughout her time on the show, Jessie dedicated her hours in the dressing room to writing the novel she conceptualised while at uni.

In 2023 she secured a place on the Curtis Brown Rewrite Doctor and participated in the PiCT Fiction Writing course.

In her spare time,

Jessie enjoys singing, painting, running, and learning Italian and German.
